Learn how to maintain your bike. It's easier than you think!
Life Cycle's BMWs (that's short for Bike Maintenance Workshops!) will help you learn the mysteries of cycle maintenance and keep your bike in good condition. The courses explain how thing work, why they sometimes go wrong and how to fix them. We keep things simple, friendly and jargon-free. The courses are ideal for beginners with little or no mechanical knowledge, but even people with experience of cycle maintenance will pick up a few pearls of wisdom.
The Bristol and Bath listings magazine Venue recently sent one of their journalists Mike White to road-test a Life Cycle BMW. Mike's article describes the experience and concludes: "It's fast-paced but beautifully explained and, best of all, we all get to try each new skill on our own bikes. I beam to myself all the way home. It feels like I'm riding a new bike, I've acquired a wealth of really usefull skills..."
Our courses will show you how to set a bike up for maximum comfort, how to cope with a puncture, how to keep your brakes in good condition and your gears changing properly. They take place at the Life Cycle Centre in Knowle, Bristol from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Places cost £60 and include all spare parts such as inner tubes, brake pads and cables. The courses and events page of the website will tell you when the courses are running. Then, to make a booking, either give the office a ring or download an information pack and booking form.
Everyone joining one of our BMWs will also be given a free copy of the Haynes Bike Book, the definitive guide to cycle maintenance (normal price £14.99). Bring a packed lunch with you (and your bike of course!)
